""Finally!" gushed Tiffany Renaud as she slipped onto the folding massage table wearing her personalized monogrammed towel. "You have no idea how much I look forward to our little appointments, Philip. These trips to the spa keep me going throughout the week.
"Glad to be of help, Mrs. Renaud," Philip Stevens replied "I know that you booked an Ashiatsu Deep Tissue appointment for an hour this afternoon, but weren't you complaining about tension in your lower back during our last session?"
"Why, yes, I can still feel a knot there today. All that lifting and packing for the move this weekend hasn't helped matters much either... yes, there." She winced as Philip's fingers focused on an especially sore portion of her spine. His clever and deft hands always zeroed in on her pain right away. He was by far the most sought after masseur at her favorite local spa, so Tiffany made a point to book her appointments with him personally and months in advance.
"In that case, I'd like to begin with another method, similar to Swedish Massage, before we get to the deep tissue stress. First, I'll focus on getting you generally relaxed. The long strokes associated with this technique are great for relieving stress, improving flexibility, increasing oxygen through improved circulation, and reducing body toxins."
"Sounds wonderful! I love getting this work done!" squealed Tiffany, as Philip prepared her usual complicated regimen of dead sea salts, aromatherapy oils, steam towels, moisturizers, and basalt stones. "Afterwards, can we finish up with one of your famous facelift massages? As soon you've finished the fourth repetition of those twenty-seven marvelous strokes I feel ages younger, what you can do with your hands is simply remarkable! You leave my facial skin feeling uplifted and firm again."
"Thank you for the kind words, Mrs. Renaud," Phillip said.
"Please," she interjected pointedly with a wry smile, "call me Tiffany."
"Thank you, Tiffany," he stammered. "How is the move going aside from your back pain?" He asked, eager to change the subject.
"It's going quite well, My daughter Anastasia is finally going off to college after taking a year to herself, my husband and I are quite thrilled to have an empty nest to come home to."
"Congratulations," Philip said warmly as he pressed his hands gently on her upper back. "You must be very proud. Today we are going to start on the back, work out your stress there, then make our way to the arms, legs, feet, hands, neck, shoulders, and end with the facelift." Using a lotion of his own design to prevent friction against the skin, he began massaging with swift broad strokes to calm her nervous system and shed excessive muscle tension. As he felt her body relax, he began applying increasing amounts of force into the sore area in her lower back. Slowly he worked out the knot of tension that had plagued her back for days, aching with every bag of groceries she picked up and every box of her daughter's belongings she had packed.
